This module aims to present a broad and integrated view of strategic management in organisations; to outline and offer a range of critical perspectives on key concepts of strategy; to introduce generic strategies at the corporate, business and functional levels; to provide a range of analytical models and concepts that can be applied in assessing the strategic capability of an organisation and the environment in which it operates.
Our three-year BSc Business Management programmes share a generic first year, during which you will take seven compulsory modules from across the range of business disciplines, providing a broad understanding of business and management contexts and processes.
It has died down now, especially as the terms HRM and HR are now in general use both in their own right and as synonyms for personnel management, but understanding of the concept of HRM is enhanced by analysing what the differences are and how traditional approaches to personnel management have evolved to become the presentday practices of HRM.

Creating and appropriating value from international business strategy, and aligning with the premises of innovation for competitive advantage, are topical aspects that you will engage with in this module.
