A general business management education provides the versatility to work in a variety of management careers. The module is delivered to you using weekly lectures and IT workshops, the workshops principally concentrate on the Knowledge Management Applications in the real world through examining KM in a Business or organisational settings and to explain how KM delivers value to an organisation.
Purpose: The purpose of this module, in the broader context of the Diploma in Management, is to enable the student to explain and apply the principles of management with specific focus on organising and controlling management functions, information management and communication, leadership and motivation theories.
This module provides an introduction to the developing field of cross-cultural management, explored in relation to both international and intra-national contexts, and drawing on perspectives from social anthropology, social psychology, organisational behaviour and management theory.
Students will have an opportunity to interact with the local business community and are required to identify a local enterprise and interview its founder/current owner to determine whether they demonstrate the dynamic and visionary approach to business proposed by entrepreneurial theory to be typical of entrepreneurs.
